Preface

The purpose of this book is very simple: to impart my own aproach to gluteal and posterior contour reshaping. Writing a treaty on the subjet is not what i have in mind; rather, the idea is to provide a step-by-setp educational approach of the techniques i use. Such techniques are the resulto f long-term experience and a very personal evolution base don original techniques and changes therein. Numerous hours spent podering, anatomy studies, concentration and a passion for the subject, in addition to critical análisis after each posterior contour surgery aong 20 uears resulted in this book.

This is the first book published that deals exclusively with the posterior contour, focusing on the gluteal áreas and its defects. I do not intend to be definitive saying that the techniques shown here Will change in the natural course of medicine. We know it is just the firts step. Other techniques Will come up, new procedures Will be introduced, and a truo body contour deserves. We are no longer surgeons limited to operating on our patientis front contour but it is time for is to be surgeons capable of performing more than liposiction for the posterior contour.

A great Brazilian physician and writer, Pedro Nava, said that “experience is the ligth that ligths up the road we have already traveled”. Therefore, this book is the portrair of my experience. It is like a ligth that lights up the road i have traveled and i hope it is a ligth that ligths up the road of those who wish to star performing Buttocks Reshaping and surgery of the posterior contour.

Along the past 20 years i have reconsidered manyo f my concepts and therefore i whis this book to be mote than technically useful, serving above all to lead esthetic surgeons to ponder about their estetical concepts, and to star looking at the gluteal área and the posterior contour from a new prespective. I wish this book may help surgeons t osee the possibilities of gluteal reshaping surgery, or at least to know they exist, to expand horizons, and to consolidate a new era.

Esthetic plastic surgery, like any medical science, is the resulto f a walk, each step leading to the next. Thus, we walk in search of change and of learning. Setp by step.
